Ottawa, ON – Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry MP Eric Duncan has been banned from entering Russia, announced in a press release issued earlier this week by the Russian Foreign Ministry. The announcement came shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Canada’s House of Commons.
MP Duncan issued the following statement shortly thereafter:
“Today as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a powerful address to Canada’s Parliament, the Russian regime banned numerous Canadian lawmakers, including myself, from entering Russia.
I wear it with a badge of honour. Putin is an evil and heartless dictator who needs to be called out and confronted.
I’m proud to be Canadian and stand alongside our entire Parliament to push back against this unlawful and inhumane aggression.
Ukrainians aren’t just fighting to defend themselves though; lets be very clear – they are defending all of Europe. Because Putin’s brutal attack on Ukraine is an attack on all of us. That’s the lesson history has taught us, and one we can not ignore”.
